still here

Yes. I am still here. Just too tired to worry about posting. And, too wore out to think of anything particularly clever to say. So, I will allow my son to speak for me…

(I spoke of it here… but, to repeat:)

"P-I-E spells pie!"

I know that I have linked to Cyn's blog before (proof 1, proof 2, but I haven't actually spoken about it directly! Well, that changes here and now! You should all go take a look! She posts pictures on blog occasionally… some of the kids, some of nature type stuff, and some random other things that look neat through the lens. She also posts cute stories about the kids.

Parker: I want to play with my penis.

Me: Not in public. That's not polite. You should only do that in private.

Parker: It's really big right now.

He smiles.

I begin typing in my blog.

hear ye! hear ye!

Posted on December 11th, 2005 by dandavis

OK, finally got off my lazy rump and sat it down in front of my laptop to do some picture stuff… such as upload a bunch of new photos of the youngin's! You can find them in this flickr photoset!

Also, figured it was about time for a status on my diet. I'm down 80 pounds since beginning this WOL in July. I'm hovering between 224 and 228. I have hit a bit of a plateau, but nothing that has me concerned… especially since we getting deep into winter. The body's cycle leading through fall and into winter is to try and store as much fat as possible to help meet its needs through, what would be in the wild, a reduction of available resources. Then, as winter passes and spring abounds, the body will once again turn into a lean, mean. fat-burning machine. At least in the wild, it would be that way. Is that still how it is supposed to work with us "civilized" beings? I don't know. But, it helps to explain my plateau and it will keep me on track until the weight loss resumes. Honey dearest, are we planning a trip to the beach this summer? 'Cause I think I'll be ready for it this time! I'll post some good "before" and "after" – actually, "after" doesn't sound right… more like "during" – pictures a bit later… I need to take some new "during" pictures.

Oh, and speaking of this WOL/WOE/diet, check out this pic of my baby girl. Mmmmm! Meat good. She is making a good start down the path of healthy eating. Now, about that toddler

"What is it? Is that your hand?" asks his mother.

"Noooo, " he yells! "It's a camel!"

Or, something along those lines.

Without further ado, here is the latest from young Mr. Parker.

home with a sick kid

Posted on September 29th, 2005 by dandavis

So, here I was at home with a sick kid. He's eating lunch and watching Blue's Clues. So what should I do? How about some poker at the usual spot? Sure, why not?

So, I find me a little $5.00+$0.50 NLH tourney with re-buys. It's noon… tourney starts at 12:30, so I grab me some lunch too.

I try to play very tight, but sometimes I get hands that I just have to play! I bust out once and re-buy. That's all, I promise…

Just before the break, I'm under 1500 so I re-buy again. I actually get a good set of cards and go up to about 11k. Then I add-on at the break for an extra 2000 chips. So the real fun begins with me at about 13k.

And, so, the fun begins… I won't take the time to explain all of my plays. I'll only say that when I finally get pocket pairs 99+ someone else invariably had AA! But, 4 hours and 32 minutes later I bust out with… well, just read my last statement. I bust out in 29th place… but, at least it was in the money!

Parker (2.9 yo) has been "drawing" for a while now… but, as far as I am aware, this is his first recognizable drawing! It's a beautiful picture of Mommy(?)… or, it could be Daddy(?)… ah, hell, it don't matter who it is, it just looks good.

Parker\'s drawing of a person.
